Bend Oregon is one of the liveliest towns on the West Coast. Located in between the high desert and the Cascade Mountain rage, Bend has an incredible climate and gets nearly 300 days of sunshine every year.
Outdoor Enthusiasts Mecca
For those that love the outdoors it doesn’t get any better than Central Oregon. There are thousands of miles of trails to hike including the famous Pacific Crest Trail. The area is also known as one of the best mountain biking destinations in the world.
You can hop on famous rides like Phil’s Trail (see below) to dozens of other challenging trails that dot the area.
For those that want to spend time outside but aren’t interested in such vigorous activities there’s tubing down the Deschutes River. The water is cold and invigorating and it is perfect when the summer sun is at it’s peak.
You can also check out one of the many downtown festivals throughout the course of the summer. This includes Bite of Bend, Summerfest, and a whole host of others. Generally they include free bands and lots of local foods. There are even amazing local music festivals like the Four Peaks Music Festival.
Local Food Scene
Bend has an amazingly diverse food scene. From local favorites like The Sparrow Bakery and Spork to newcomers like Bontá Natural Artisan Gelato, you’re never more than a few steps away from amazing and delicious food.
At the Sparrow Bakery you can get everything from fresh baked croissants to their world famous Ocean Rolls. They also offer seasonal meals like soups and salads.
Bontá has some of the best gelato you have ever put in your mouth. But don’t take our word for it. Get down there and try one of the 18 flavors they have every day.
Just wandering around downtown you’ll literally come across dozens of great restaurants and coffee shops.
Of course this area is also well known for it’s incredible winter sports. Mt Bachelor has been a draw for nearly 30 years. A great mix of easy terrain and black diamonds means there’s something for everyone.
The area around Bend also has a great deal of cross country skiing locations. Many of the popular hiking trails are open in the winter for skiers.
Snowboarding has become more and more popular in recent years. Mt Bachelor has incredible snow parks that will challenge even the most accomplished snowboarder.
Any trip to Central Oregon wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the local breweries. From the old standards like Deschutes to some of the newer labels like Worthy you’ll be hard pressed to find more beer variety in any single location. The area is best known for it’s IPA’s which have a nice hoppy bite. Many breweries get their hops from right here in Central Oregon.
There’s even an Ale Trail that you can follow to all the local breweries to sample all of their wares. It’s well worth the time and effort.
As you can see there are tons of things to do here in Bend no matter the time of year. Thanks for reading the Bend Oregon Pest Control Pros blog.
